Are Chipotle Pinto Beans Good for You?

The health benefits of pinto beans are numerous. These legumes are low in calories, high in fiber, and contain protein, vitamins, and minerals making them an excellent pantry staple. They’re also a fantastic source of antioxidants and many B-complex vitamins, including folates, thiamin, pyridoxine, pantothenic acid, riboflavin, and niacin. All this to say a resounding yes!

Are Pinto or Black Beans Healthier?

It’s a common misconception that black beans are healthier than pinto beans. While it is true that black beans contain a greater concentration of antioxidants which contributes to their color, pinto beans actually contain more folate, a B vitamin that aids in DNA synthesis and repair, cell division, and preventing changes to DNA that may lead to cancer.

Which one is better? Both have incredible value in your nutrition and variety is the spice of life. We use both types of beans throughout our recipes and Mexican dishes.
